Co-founder, Ahead of the Curve

Dr. Jaricka Blundell Lau is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the co-founder of Ahead of the Curve, a practice dedicated to integrative, whole-person mental health care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Utah Valley University and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Utah.

Dr. Lau combines evidence-based psychiatric care with functional and lifestyle approaches to address the root causes of mental health challenges. She provides both therapy and medication management, tailoring each session to meet her clients’ evolving needs. She is trained in EMDR at the basic level and brings a trauma-informed, person-centered perspective to her work. She is also pursuing certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) to deepen her knowledge of root-cause healing.

With over a decade of experience as a registered nurse, Dr. Lau has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings—including several years in a thoracic intensive care unit and outpatient mental health. She is passionate about exploring emerging tools that support mental wellness and has personally experienced technologies like Wavi brain mapping, autonomic nervous system scans, and InBody analysis to better understand their potential impact on care. Her background also includes licensure as a Master Esthetician, which informs her holistic appreciation for mind-body connection.

A Utah native, Dr. Lau finds joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with her family, curling up with a good book, or heading into the mountains for a hike. She nurtures a deep connection to the land through gardening, where she delights in getting her hands dirty and eating sun-warmed vegetables straight from the plant. On weekends, you’ll often find her browsing local farmers markets for seasonal produce—and stopping to pet every dog along the way.
