Meet Dr. ElLois Bailey — A Trailblazer in Integrative Psychiatric Care
With a silent “s” and a powerful voice for change, Dr. ElLois Bailey is more than a seasoned Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner—she’s a trailblazer, educator, and advocate. As co-founder of Ahead of the Curve and a long-time faculty member at the University of Utah, she’s spent decades blending evidence-based psychiatric care with advanced nutrition and functional medicine. Her leadership has helped shape both policy and practice in Utah, including successful efforts to reduce legislative barriers for psychiatric nurse practitioners.
Dr. Bailey's clinical work is deeply rooted in person-centered care, integrating medication management with lifestyle interventions to address the full scope of mental health challenges. Her passion for education shines through in her mentoring of future providers and in her foundational work on the “Ahead of the Curve” professional development program. Outside of clinic and classroom, she’s a devoted mother of eight and grandmother of twenty-two, happiest when she’s surrounded by family or tending to her rocks and garden.

Meet Dr. Jaricka Lau — Root-Cause Healer and Whole-Person Psychiatric Provider
Dr. Jaricka Lau is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and co-founder of Ahead of the Curve, where she provides integrative mental health care grounded in both science and compassion. With a decade of nursing experience and advanced training in trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, and functional approaches, she helps clients uncover the root causes of emotional distress—not just treat the symptoms. Her sessions are tailored, relational, and deeply person-centered.
Dr. Lau is pursuing certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine to further integrate nutrition, lifestyle, and emerging wellness technologies into psychiatric care. Her holistic background includes licensure as a Master Esthetician and firsthand experience with tools like Wavi brain mapping and autonomic nervous system testing. A Utah native and passionate gardener, she finds joy in growing food, hiking mountain trails, and supporting others on their healing journey—often with a good book in one hand and a local farmer’s market find in the other.
